Review of iKnow-day 2023

Every year we organize the iKnow-day for iKnow users and interested parties.
We are currently working hard behind the scenes to organize the next iKnow day. This will take place on Wednesday, November 20. So you can already mark it in your agenda! For everyone who could not be there last year or would like to refresh his or her memory, here is a review of the iKnow-day 2023.

Retrospective iKnow-day 2023

The annual iKnow-day traditionally brings together the users and creators of iKnow and the approaches that iKnow supports (Law analysis, cogNIAM).

The iKnow users exchange their knowledge and experiences, we discuss the plans we have in the long term with iKnow and, based on case studies, experiences with iKnow in daily practice are shared. Around the planned sessions, the iKnow-day is a pleasant networking event.

Parallel program
In the morning, we kicked off with two sessions.

There was a session for users of the iKnow Suite in which we explained what new features have been added to the iKnow modules in recent times. This included the further implementation of knowledge domains, the new “export-tab” and the new
interconnections between the modules.

This was followed by a demonstration of the new iKnow capabilities in the area of RuleSpeech: the syntax for working with rules in natural language as continues to be developed and deployed at the Inland Revenue.

The session ended with a first: We showed for the first time MiKnow, our computer-based learning solution for sharing knowledge about Law analysis and CogNIAM. MiKnow will be embedded in iKnow, to explain both approach and operation of iKnow itself. This will be based
on short generated videos that we will eventually deploy in customer training programs.

Parallel to the session for iKnow users, there was also a session for new users. In it we showed what iKnow is, focusing both on the context of iKnow (e.g. Law analysis), and its application. In a live demo, with much interaction with the participants, we showed the power of iKnow “in real life.”

Afternoon Program
After lunch, the program was again the domain of applicators outside PNA.

The afternoon was kicked off by Reijer Passchier, Professor of Digitization and the Democratic Rule of Law at the Open University and Associate Professor of Constitutional and Administrative Law at Leiden University. Reijer gave a presentation on the consequences of digitization for the functioning of our constitution, with particular attention to the role of Law analysis therein.

Next, Esmée Tomaula and Rudy Italiaander addressed the practical case study Agile Law Implementation. Esmée is a tax expert, and Rudy an architect, on the Income Tax Rule Management team within the Tax Administration. Their talk focused on how the Tax Administration generates rules from laws and ultimately working program code by using iKnow!

Rikkert van Capelleveen, our last speaker, works at Achmea, where he leads the business unit Data & Digital. His presentation addressed how Achmea is transforming itself into a digital insurer, with the ideas of our knowledge molecule making an important contribution.

iKnow-day 2024
