We help organizations tackle knowledge-intensive challenges and lay the foundation for the sustainable and intelligent use of knowledge. We aim to foster innovation and prevent the waste of knowledge, time, and money. To this end, we developed the cogNIAM® method, which is designed to optimize any form of knowledge.
“Knowledge can be identified and structured in such a way that it can be used to make calculations—specifically, in a way that saves time and money, both immediately and, above all, in the long term. That is what sets PNA apart.” – Emeritus Prof. Dr. Sjir Nijssen.
Of course, accessible, manageable, and productive knowledge is important to our organization. We work with our cogNIAM method every day and consistently provide irrefutable proof that our method works and delivers unprecedented added value to companies. But even more than “the how” and “the what,” it is “the why” of what we do that matters most to us.
cogNIAM® is the name of the methodology with which we are inextricably linked. It stands for Cognition-Enhanced Natural Language Information Analysis Method. Using the cogNIAM® method, we capture knowledge in a structured way and make it practical to apply. We do this in natural language and with many concrete examples, so that everyone within the organization understands the rules and why they exist. This understandable knowledge forms the foundation for your processes, procedures, and systems.
Knowledge is becoming increasingly important, but the waste of knowledge is still commonplace. And yet, there is no longer any excuse for the waste of knowledge since the introduction of the cogNIAM® method.
Our mission, therefore, is to prevent the waste of knowledge. Waste is, of course, always a shame. It costs a lot of time and money—time and money that go up in smoke and don’t contribute to an organization’s value. How wonderful would it be if the resources that are currently being wasted could be used for something more useful? That’s why our vision is: “We help our clients create space. Space that enables them to focus on their core work, on innovation and improvement, and on achieving agility and compliance.”
Our work is driven by an idealistic vision: the belief that a rigorous approach to knowledge can help combat the global waste of knowledge, time, and money. Call us idealists. Call us do-gooders. But we believe in this approach. And we’ve been proving it for a long time.
Professor Sjir Nijssen, our founder, has been working for more than fifty years to help people use knowledge more efficiently. In the 1970s, he discovered how to identify, analyze, and structure knowledge in such a way that it can be quantified. This makes specific knowledge accessible to a wider audience in understandable language. As a result, waste can be prevented, and companies can thrive in their entrepreneurial endeavors.
His insight was the primary driving force behind the development of the current cogNIAM® method—a scientific method that is central to PNA’s approach. This method enables organizations to manage knowledge sustainably in practice, based on current global standards in the field of knowledge management.
Our clients include ABN AMRO, ADP, the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration, the European Space Agency, Erasmus University Rotterdam, Maastricht University, Moneyou, Obvion, Rijkswaterstaat, and SVB. Our philosophy now serves as the foundation for current global standards in the areas of processes, business rules, and data management.
PNA believes in co-creation and collaborates with partners on innovation projects at the intersection of business and IT. We believe in partnerships that benefit all parties. Partnerships where both sides learn from each other and solutions that are tailored to specific needs. And because we believe in the products and services we deliver together with our clients, we are also regularly part of consortia.
Would you like to work for major national and international organizations as part of an enthusiastic, dynamic, and professional team? Then join us and help expand our success in the challenging world of knowledge management. At PNA, you’ll work on interesting and complex projects. You’ll have the freedom to realize your ambitions. We’re proud of our knowledge products and solutions, and we all show that pride!
PNA also regularly covers topics that warrant in-depth discussion. For example, in 2021—in collaboration with the Tax Administration—we published another book on legal analysis.
